Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship position in the Department of Radiology at University of California, Davis (UC Davis) School of Medicine in Sacramento CA. The successful applicant will work on projects with radiology physicist Felipe Godinez and his collaborators Orwa Aboud, Lorenzo Nardo, Aiming Yu, Audrey Fan, Youngkyoo Jung, Abhijit Chaudhari, from UC Davis, and Greig Scott from Stanford University. The research group has strong links with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis.
The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team of investigators developing new transformative MRI techniques, to advance the targeted delivery of novel brain tumor treatments. Another research direction will be to develop PET and MRI imaging methods to image cancer in the human brain. There will be training opportunities in PET and MRI hardware development and acquisition protocols, basic science and clinical research in oncology, neurology, and beyond.
The applicant should have a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, physics or a related field and experience in MRI hardware development. Experience in MRI pulse sequence development and PET/MRI imaging is desired, and the willingness to engage in pre-clinical animal imaging. The applicant should possess good writing and communication skills as demonstrated by a successful publication record as they will have the opportunity to attend conferences, write manuscripts, and contribute to grant applications.

The MR facilities include research dedicated 3T Siemens and 1.5 GE whole body scanners, and a 7T Bruker animal scanner. UC Davis Health also provides accesses to 1.5/3T GE and Siemens scanners and a Hyperfine portable low field scanner. The group has state of the art bench equipment such as network analyzers, signal generator, and oscilloscopes to support the development of MR and PET hardware. In addition, access to shared resources in Molecular Pharmacology, Mouse Biology, In Vivo Translational Imaging and Biostatistics are available at UC Davis, supported by the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The initial appointment will be for one year and contingent upon mutual agreement, satisfactory performance, and the availability of funds, the appointment may be renewed.
